Trinidad Water Loss: Long-Term Leak and Rotted Subfloor

A plumbing leak in a Trinidad home ran long enough to rot the subfloor and grow mold in the floor system below. We brought in drying equipment, set up containment and cut out the rotted floor so the damage could be reached and dried from underneath.

What we found

Water from the plumbing had been soaking the floor for a long time. The subfloor was stained and soft, and once it was opened up the wood and insulation underneath showed rot and mold.

We set commercial drying equipment and sealed the area with containment so the wet, moldy materials could come out without spreading into the rest of the house.

Tear-out

The rotted subfloor was cut out down to the joists, opening the floor system so it could be dried and cleaned from below instead of trapping moisture under new flooring.
